Introducing Style in the Arena
What does it mean to show up when the lights come on?
That's the question at the heart of Style in the Arena—a new podcast presented by FIFA 1904, exploring courage, grace, and action under pressure across football, fashion, and culture.
Hosted by Julie Anne Quay, founder of VFILES and co-owner of Barnsley FC, Style in the Arena brings together leaders and innovators from sport, fashion, entrepreneurship, and art. Each episode dives into what it takes to perform and lead when it matters most: the mindset, the movement, and the meaning behind it all.
Whether it's on the pitch, in business, or in life, showing up defines everything. That's what this series is about—and it's an extension of everything FIFA 1904 stands for.
Episode One: Leading Chelsea F.C.
The debut episode features two Chelsea legends: Dennis Wise, the club's former captain and current president of Como 1907, and Roberto Di Matteo, scorer of one of Wembley's most iconic goals and the manager who led Chelsea to their first Champions League title. Together, they reflect on their shared years at the club—triumphs, setbacks, and the lessons that shaped them as leaders.
"Leadership's about trust," says Wise. "The moment your teammates know you'll show up for them."
Di Matteo puts it simply: "True leadership is connection—not control."
